My second week in Spain

10 Feb., 2025

My host family took me to the city center and showed me the cathedral „Santa Maria de la Redonda“ and some of the famous streets with many small bars. There I ate „patatas bravas“ (potatoes with sauce) and „bocata de jámon serrano y Manchego-queso“ (sandwich with ham and that special cheese). These are two of the typical foods of Spain.
On the weekend we went to a small village called „El ciego“. There we visited a hotel called „Hotel Marques de Riscal“ which was built by the famous architect Frank Gehry. And I learned that most of the people in this village have sunflowers hanging from the door so that the devils don’t come to them.
Later that evening we went to another little village called „LaGuardia“. It was so quiet and peaceful and there were only a few people so you could hear the birds singing. And usually you can see mountains on the horizon, but unfortunately it was raining and the sky was very dark so you couldn’t see anything.-Melina
