Last week we had two days holidays, so my family decided to spend these days in Madrid and show me the city. We started our little trip on Thursday and the drive took about 4 hours.
THURSDAY:
Banco de España
Museo del Prado
Congreso de los Diputados
FRIDAY:
Plaza de España
Templo de Depod
Palacio Real de Madrid:
It was were fascinating because each room was were unique and full of details. So it‘s definitely worth to visit. I especially liked the hall of mirrors but unfortunately in most of the rooms it‘s forbidden to take pictures
Catedral de Santa María la Real de la Almudena:
For me it was special because I‘ve never seen such a colourful church before and also i liked the style because it‘s more modern than normally
Plaza Mayor
SATURDAY:
Malasaña:
This quarter of Madrid, which is popular for its cafes, bars and secondhand/vintage stores I personally really liked, because it stays in contrast to the mostly chic looking buldings in Madrid. We went to a couple of stores there and we found some market stalls and even if there were still a lot of tourist the atmosphere felt more relaxed and showed a part of the normal life.
Hotel Riu Plaza España
Cervecería La Campana:
In this pub netxt to the Plaza Mayor we had some „Bocadillos de Calamares“, which is a typical food of Madrid.
El Retiro
Museo Reina Sofía:
They have a great collection of spanisch art works there (e.g. Guernica- Pablo Picasso) but again I wasn‘t allowed to take pictures…
SUNDAY:
On sunday we left Madrid late in the morning to visit the former summer residence of the Spanisch kings and afterwards they showed me Segovia (a city on our way back to Logroño)
Palacio Real La Granja de San Ildefonso – the Spanish Versailles
Acueducto de Segovia
Catedral de Segovia
I totally liked our trip and I enjoyed seeing other parts of Spain and get to know more about the culture
