Today my class and I went on a school excursion to Madrid. We had to get up very early as the bus ride took about four hours.
When we finally arrived, we were greeted by the beauty of the city, with its stunning architecture and vibrant atmosphere. One of the highlights was our visit to the Palacio de las Cortes, where we had a guided tour. We learned about the Spanish system of government and explored some of the most important rooms in the building, including the Hemicycle, where parliamentary debates take place.
After the tour, we took a short 45-minute walk to get a first impression of the city. On the way we passed famous landmarks such as the Parque del Retiro and the Puerta del Alcalá.
Our next stop was the Real Casa de la Moneda, where we visited the museum inside the building to learn about the history of Spanish currency and the minting process. Before continuing, we took a well-deserved lunch break.
In the afternoon we had some free time to explore the city. We strolled down Gran Vía, one of Madrid’s main shopping streets, where we visited several shops and soaked up the lively atmosphere.
Finally, at around 5 o’clock, we arrived at the highlight of our trip: the musical Mamma Mia. The theatre decorations were stunning, and even the drinks and snacks were Mamma Mia themed. Although the dialogues and songs were in Spanish, it was an unforgettable experience. Both the set and the performers created an incredible atmosphere that made the show truly captivating. It was one of the best performances I have ever seen!
