Fortunately, our flight to Bilbao on Thursday did not depart until the afternoon. After landing following an uneventful flight and quickly picking up our luggage, we left the airport, where our host families were already waiting for us. As it was already dark when we landed at 6 p.m., we immediately set off on the 1.5-hour drive to Logroño, although unfortunately I didn’t see much along the way.
My next day started early. I got up at 7 a.m. to go to school. At school, we were first shown around the building, and later we were allowed to form our own first impressions of the lessons. In Spain, school finishes at 2:20 p.m., and everyone goes home afterward. In the afternoon, my host mother showed me around Logroño. Some of the buildings are really breathtaking.

On Saturday, I went into town with a friend to see more of the city and do some shopping. As soon as the sun came out, it became pleasantly warm, which made exploring the city very enjoyable.

On Sunday, I went with my host family to the Yuso Monastery in San Millán de la Cogolla. The monastery is located in the mountains of Spain, although they wouldn’t really be considered mountains in Germany. We took a guided tour there (in Spanish, which I didn’t understand very well) and the guide told us a lot about the history of the monastery and the building itself.
